Swishdot/PTK/changes
by Chris Withers on Monday November 13, 12:23PM, 2000
Well, this is open source, so 'patches are always welcome' (tm) ;-)

Seriously, though, the PTK has a much better architecture now and will have a much longer life span. Likewise with Swishdot, however I think they're both a way off. So, here's a mini-proposal:

1. Put in a few bug-fixes/etc that have been hanging around for a while and release Squishdot 1.0.0 (woohoo!)

2. Add in your changes, write up what you did as a how-to and release Squishdot 2.0

3. When the PTK and Swishdot are ready, release Swishdot 1.0

Sound like a plan?

cheers,

Chris

I'd be happy writing a How To. However, our Cyberactivist Community authenticates off a PostgreSQL database, and uses a whole lot of ZSQL methods that are quite different from the current Squishdot code.

Rather than taking Squishdot in a random direction, how about I just writing the How To, and perhaps making my rather unelegant hacks available as an example rather than a Squishdot release.

After all, Swishdot is coming eventually, right?

Any idea when PTK and Swishdot will be "done"? I'm considering starting with Squishdot now, and not excited by the prospect of facing a migration in 2 months...

For the PTK, you'd have to ask Digital Creations.

For Swishdot, well, all depends on time. If someoen wants to throw a _large_ bundle of cash at my employers, I'm sure it could become a higher priority ;-)

      cheers,

      Chris
